Vernon "Mike" Preston's Obituary
Vernon "Mike" Preston age 92, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, December 19, 2016 at his home. Vernon was born March 24, 1924 in Fremont, Michigan, the son of Andrew and Florence (Taft) Preston. He was united in marriage to the former Maxine Musson on June 20 1953 in Edmore, Michigan.
Mike proudly served in the United States Army at the tail end of WWII. He worked as a Machinist; he worked at multiple jobs over the years. Mike enjoyed and loved his horses; especially training them. He was a true Cowboy; he raised pigeons and was a member of the MIF Pigeons Club. Mike also enjoyed making horse saddles, and was a Mule Skinner. He was also member of the Montcalm County Sheriff Posse.
Mike is survived by the love of his life Maxine, children; Kathy (Steve) Methner, Irv (Kim) Preston, Bonnie (Marty) Reed, Amy (Bob) Reihl, Aaron (Tracy) Preston, Jason (Kandi) Preston and Wile Preston, 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren (and another on the way); and 1 great-great-grandchild. Mike was preceded in death by 3 brothers; 4 sisters and a grandchild.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 1:00 PM at First Church of God, 123 Main St., Edmore, Michigan with Pastor Steve Gulick to officiate the service. Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider the wishes of the Preston family.
