Vernon A. Osborn's Obituary
Big Rapids Vernon A. Osborn, 83, of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at his residence. He was born March 12, 1925, in Ionia, the son of Charles and Edith (Way) Osborn, and grew up in Mecosta, where his parents both served as Postmasters. During World War II, Vern served with the U.S. Navy. In 1947, Vern graduated from Ferris Institute, and in that same year he married Marjorie Petersen. Vern owned and operated several businesses in Howard City, Alma, and Big Rapids. His wife preceded him in death in 2004. Surviving are his daughter Karen (Mike) Orwig of Big Rapids; his son Curt (Beverly) of Marshall; and 3 granddaughters, Felicity, Hillary, and Hayley. His remains were sanctified through cremation, and will be interred alongside Marjories cremains in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mecosta. A tribute service for family and friends will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. For more information, please contact his son Curt at [email protected].
