Violet Louise Bowman's Obituary
Violet Louise Bowman, age 96, of Big Rapids passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012. She was born September 6, 1916 in Big Rapids, the daughter of Wilson and Hazel (Sharp) LaVallee. Violet enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sons; Maurice "Butch" (Janet) of Canadian Lakes, Marvin (Irene) of Big Rapids, Larry (Dianne) of Gaylord, one daughter; Sally (Chuck) Wolverton of Bear Lake, 13 grandchildren; Kim, Kurt, Travis, Nick, Tyler, Kelsie, Laurie, Jack, Jennifer, Laine, Kendra, Holly, Jason and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister; Gene Vandawater and one brother Leonard LaVallee plus many nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Maurice Bowman Sr., and three sisters; Bernice Pratt, Ruby O'Neil and infant sister Merena. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Don Hancock officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Plains Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 - 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels.
