Virginia Alice's Obituary
Virginia Alice May age 91, passed away early Sunday morning, January 24, 2016, at Spectrum Health United Memorial Hospital, Greenville, MI. Virginia was born September, 3, 1924 in Remus, Michigan the daughter of Ora and Bertha (Betts) Root. Virginia was raised and attended school of the Seventh Day Adventist until the 10th Grade; she went on to graduate from Remus High School. Virginia was united in marriage to Zane on May on March 10, 1945 in Lakeview, Michigan. She was a longtime member of New Life Methodist Church and was very active in her church. Virginia walked on the Cancer Drive, was also a 4-H Leader for several years and was president of the Six Lakes Garden Club for 2 years. She was also longtime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary Post 5602.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband, Zane; children, Linda (Mel) Houck and Steven (Deborah) May; grandchildren, Cherri (Randy) Buckmaster, Curt Houck, Christopher May, Rev. Dr. Stephanie May and Jonathan May; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Blake Buckmaster, Matthew, Joshua, Zachary, Rachel, Alek, Elijah, Elena and Ezra May. Virginia was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Dakota Buckmaster; 3 siblings, Dale Root, Berdena Shedell and Deo Root.
Celebration of Life service will take place Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 1:00PM from New Life Methodist Church, Six Lake, MI, with Pastor Susan Babb and Rev. Dr. Stephanie May to co-officiate. Burial to follow the luncheon in Hillcrest Cemetery, Six Lakes, MI. Visitation will take place Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 4:00 -7:00PM at Brigham Funeral Chapel, Six Lakes, MI and again Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 12:00PM until the time of service at New Life Methodist Church. Those wishing to do a memorial contribution are asked to consider New Life Methodist church or VFW Post 5602.
