Wanda Lee Stephens' Obituary
Lakeview - Wanda Lee Stephens, 82, passed away on August 1, 2021 at Kelsey Memorial Hospital, Lakeview. Wanda was born May 31, 1939 to Carl and Irene Posteher in Moorcroft, Wyoming. In her early years, Wanda traveled the country following her father's job. She attended 14 high schools and eventually landed at the University of Colorado for her college career. In 1960, she married Forrest "Bud" Stephens in Levitt Town, New York. Wanda was known as "Wanda the Wonder" working at Leppinks for Ambassador Cards, arranging flowers at the Kingdom of Flowers, selling Avon, working at the Lakeview Family Restaurant and serving on the Kelsey Hospital Guild. Bud and Wanda lived most their lives at Townline Lake where she raised four children, enjoyed her grandchildren, loved watching the Tigers and enjoyed gambling trips to Little River Casino with family and friends. She was known for her many ceramic Christmas trees that she fired and painted herself. In her later years, Wanda loved to watch The Hallmark Channel, feed and watch the birds and yell at the squirrels to get out of her feeders. She was an original "foodie" before being a foodie was cool and loved to listen to Elvis.
Bud and Wanda enjoyed their many gambling trips across the state and were able to cruise to the Bahamas, Alaska, and through the Panama Canal.
Wanda is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Bud, in 2017, her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law Gordon (Virginia) Stephens, Jim (Janet) Stephens; Joyce (Ken)Ensing and Shirley (Ernie) Cornell; father and mother-in-law Forrest Sr. and Esther Stephens and Chris Lucas.
Wanda is survived by her children Jeff , Sandra, Scott (Julie), and Mike Stephens. Her grandchildren Tyler, Jordan (Baleigh), Bill, Steph, Harley, Riley and Justice. Her sisters Trudy (Bob) Tarras of California and Teri (David) Conyer of Arizona, several nieces and nephews and many friends from Lakeview and theTownline Lake area.
A memorial and celebration of her life will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at her home of over 50 years, 11560 Bluebird Dr. (Townline Lake) Lakeview.
