Warren Douglas Thornton's Obituary
Rodney- Warren "Doug" Thornton, 73, of Rodney, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, at his residence.
He was born February 21, 1948, in Goldsboro, NC, the son of Warren H. and Grace E. (Huffman) Thornton.  Following his graduation from high school, Doug served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years.
On March 30, 1972, Doug married Nancy J. Fuller, and shortly after moved to their home in Rodney where he had lived since.   For over 40 years, Doug worked for Wolverine World Wide until retiring.  For nearly 20 years, he served with the Army National Guard out of Big Rapids.
Doug is survived by his wife Nancy;  2 daughters, Carol (Joe) Titus of Cedar Springs, Kristina Junge' of Washington; 2 sons, Warren, Jr. of Barryton, Daniel (Rachel) of Lakeview;  11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; his step-father Doug Spencer of Rodney; his sister Lila McCoy of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Peggie Copeland and Faye Bartlett.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2021, at the Martiny Township Cemetery near Rodney, with military honors provided by the Big Rapids American Post #98 Honor Guard.  The Celebration of Doug's life will continue with a luncheon to follow at the Wild Rose Café in Big Rapids.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made for A.R.C.
