Wayne Dwight Goodrich, age 80 of Mecosta, passed away January 21, 2017, at Spectrum Health- Big Rapids. A Funeral ceremony will take place Friday, January 27th, at 3:00 PM, at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus. Family will greet friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to the time of service at 3:00 PM.
Wayne was born January 18, 1937, the son of Floyd and Laura (Morningstar) Goodrich. After graduating high school, Wayne went on to serve his country for fours years in the United States Air Force. While in England, he met and married the love of his life, Phyllis Kirton, and together the two grew their family to include four children. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1960, Wayne and Phyllis moved to North branch, MI, where they lived until their children were grown. While there, Wayne worked for Lines Oldsmobile-Cadillac Dealership in Lapeer and later worked for Dick Coulter before retiring from Complete Auto Transit in Flint.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, shooting his guns, cleaning them, and reloading. Outgoing, jovial, bold, and extremely verbal were all words used to describe him. You didn’t argue with Wayne, because you were always wrong, but never had to guess where you stood with him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Phyllis; four children, Kevin, Keith, Gary, and Kelly Goodrich; sister, Gladys Starking; five grandchildren, Justin, Cody, and Emma Goodrich, David Shepherd, and Dayne Weber, and one great-granddaughter, Lyndsey Goodrich.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Phyllis Crisp.
