Welthe Franklin's Obituary
Big Rapids - Welthe Simmons Franklin, 48, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017, at Via Cristi Hospital in Wichita, KS. She was born May 8, 1969, in Isola, MS, the daughter of Roosevelt and Ollie Mae (Johnson) Simmons, and moved to Big Rapids as a young woman, where she had lived most of her life. Welthe was a nursing aide in Big Rapids, and loved working with the elderly and disabled. Surviving are her husband, Doug Muir of Wichita; her children, Jeremiah Simmons, Akilah Franklin, Walter Franklin, and Brenda Franklin; her sisters, Rosie Simmons, Arletha Grayer, Patricia Miller, and Doris Winburn; her brothers Eugene, Derrick, Robert, and Willie Simmons, Sr.; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Linda, Oletha, and Ruby Simmons, and her brothers Roosevelt Jr., Lovell, and Frank Simmons and her son Roosevelt J. Simmons. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Ledora McClain & Shelena Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be left at the funeral home, where Welthe's family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday until time of services.
