Wendell J Christensen's Obituary
Wendell J. Christensen age 94 passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI. Wendell was born July 11, 1922 in Edmore, MI the son of Henry and May (Giles) Christensen. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Wendell was united in marriage to the former Linda MacLaren on August 9, 1980 in Stanton, MI.
Wendell worked out on the family farm most of his life until he retired at the age of 68 years. He served as the Home Township Treasurer for several years after his father retired. Wendell enjoyed woodworking, doing puzzles, playing cards, bowling and baseball. He loved to dance to polka music and was a great story teller. Wendell also was a 4-H Leader for a few years when his children were young. He will be missed dearly.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife; Linda, Children; Bruce (Nannette) Christensen, Kurt (Roberta) Christensen, Judith (Douglas) Miller, Julie (Tom) Sherington and Jayne (Gari) Baracy, 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, grand-daughter; Deborah Miller and a brother; Ferris Christensen.
Funeral Services for Wendell will take place Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11:00AM from Brigham Funeral Chapel-Vestaburg with Pastor George Showers to officiate. There will be a hour visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Richland Township Cemetery. Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider Heartland Hospice.
