Wendell Kenneth Rowland's Obituary
Stanwood- Wendell K. Rowland, 73 of Stanwood, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 23, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 10,1941 in Redbush, Kentucky, the son of Eckell P. and Virginia (Woods) Rowland. Wendell worked for 34 years at Daimler-Chrysler in Trenton, MI with his wife at his side, both retiring together in 2003. He loved to fish and hunt. He was a joyful fellow who made many friends after moving to the area. Wendell is survived by five children, Darren (Wendy) Rowland of Flatrock, Doyle Rowland of Stanwood, Teddy (Pebbles) Rowland of Carlton, Connie Rowland of Redford and Dolly (Les) Lucas of Paris, 16 grandchildren plus 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Michael Rowland of Stanwood, Sammy Rowland of Texas and two sisters, Zezalee Keaton of Louisa, KY and Mary Mae (Everett) McCoy of Louisville, KY; plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis in 206, one son Ferlin plus two brothers, Homer and Hurst. Funeral services for Wendell will be 5:00 p.m. today (Tuesday, Feb. 24), at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Ron Witbeck officiating. His family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m. prior to the service. Another service will follow on Friday, February 27th in Redbush, Kentucky, with burial to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Homefront Heroes Veterans Memorial Park in Big Rapids, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
