William Edward Benedict's Obituary
Bitely - William E. Benedict, 58, of Bitely, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 5, 2014. He was born August 18, 1955, in Big Rapids, the son of Teico and Corinne (Olson) Benedict, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1973. For a short time, Bill worked at Big Rapids Cash & Carry Lumber, and Standard Lumber in Stanwood. He then began working in maintenance at Ferris State College, and had been there for over 30 years, most recently serving as the university Locksmith. Bill loved country-western line dancing, and also enjoyed hunting. Surviving are his daughter Niccole (Jake Erickson) Benedict of Bitely; his parents Teico and Corinne of Big Rapids; 3 brothers, Robert (Betty) of Tualatine, OR, Gary (Jodi) of Big Rapids, Steven of Vancouver, WA; his uncle Richard (Susan) Olson of Big Rapids, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Mike Wissink officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Plains Cemetery. Bill's family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 8, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., and prior to services on Monday.
