William "Bill" Palmer's Obituary
Mecosta -William "Bill" L. Palmer, 58, of Mecosta formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 25, 1955 in Grand Rapids, the son of Paul J. and Margaret Ann (King) Palmer. Bill owned Palmer Service Inc. in Grand Rapids for 30 years. He was a member of the Dojo of Okinawan Karate for 36 years, where he earned a fourth degree black belt. Bill was an avid sports fan, especially anything University of Michigan. He enjoyed the lake life with family and friends. Bill is survived by Dianna, his wife of 16 years, five children; Derek (Shirley) Palmer, Billie Jo Palmer, Nicholas Palmer, Crystina Stephens and Nicholas Stephens, eight grandchildren; Alisha and Jessica Phillips, Cassie and Nicole Palmer, Brittney, Zachary and Abby Smith, Elizabeth Lalone plus four great grandchildren. Also surviving are his father Paul, one brother, Paul (Patricia) Palmer, two sisters, Carole (Tom) Morgan and Deborah Vis, plus several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, one sister, Janet Palmer and one brother, Michael Palmer A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Northlawn United Methodist Church, 1157 Northlawn NE in Grand Rapids, with Reverend Thurlan Meredith and Father Larry King officiating. Bill's family will greet friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Chapter of ALS Association or the Dojo of Okinawan Karate at 660 Baldwin Street, Jenison, MI 49428.
