Wilma Mae Haddix's Obituary
Wilma Mae (Humphrey) Haddix, age 94, walked into the arms of Jesus on January 27, 2019. She was born August 10, 1924 in Mt. Morris, MI. Her parents were Almon Eugene and Mildred Mary (Darby) Humphrey. She grew up in Montrose area with two brothers, Ernie and Wayne Humphrey, and four sisters Lois Bacon, Opal King, Cleo Good, and Beatrice Babion. All have preceded her in death.
On January 31, 1942, Wilma Mae married Victor Lewis Haddix. Victor was serving in the Army Air Force at the time during WWII. After the war, they bought an 80-acre farm on Holland Road in Edmore and raised five children. They owned the dairy farm for over 25 years and raised Holsteins.
Wilma was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Edmore, MI. Wilma was a volunteer Candy Striper at the Edmore Hospital. She also enjoyed being an Avon Lady for 20 years. She was very caring, loving and compassionate. She loved her family most of all.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Victor Lewis Haddix; her oldest son, James Arthur Haddix; and 3 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Temperance, and Liam.
She is survived by her children, Karen Haddix of Sebring, FL, Russ and Sally Whetstone of Six Lakes, Dave and Shirley Haddix of Edmore, Bob and Carol Haddix of Edmore, and Kathy Smyth of Edmore.
Victor and Wilma had 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, Feb 2, from 4 - 6 pm at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore. Also, a viewing at 1 pm on Sunday, Feb 3. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm on Sunday, Feb 3.
