Wilma Gaye Himes' Obituary
Wilma Gaye Himes, 78, of Leesburg, Florida passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Kansas City, Missouri with her family at her side. Wilma was born on November 19, 1941, in Highland Park, Michigan daughter of William and Crystal Sewell (O'Toole). Wilma grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Gary L. Himes of Leesburg, Florida; her parents, William and Crystal (O'Toole) Sewell; and her sister, Judy (Sewell) Kearns.
Wilma is survived by her brother, Gary Sewell of Rockford, Michigan; sister, Jane (Sewell) Elnicky of Royal Oak, Michigan; her son, Darren Willard (Donna) of Galena, Nevada, and grandchildren, Vanessa Matsalla (Jude) and Richard Barri; daughter, Chrystal Booth Sibert (Matthew) of Grain Valley, Missouri and grandchildren, Ashley Saffo (Jasyn), Brandon Booth, Courtney Sibert, and Kendra Sibert; daughter, Renea Kanaziz (Arthur) of Grain Valley, Missouri and grandchildren, Amanda Saninocencio (Todd), Vanessa Smith (Mike), AJ Kanaziz (Erica) and Lindsey Kanaziz; son, Mark Willard of Clarkston, Michigan and grandchildren, Mark Willard, Jr. and Elizabeth Willard; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Wilma retired from General Motors. She spent her winters living at her home in Leesburg, Florida and at her summer home in Lakeview, Michigan doing the things she loved to do. Wilma enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, golfing, dancing and taking many cruises to interesting places throughout the world. Wilma loved to organize golfing and fishing tournaments with her family which included a spread of food and live music. Wilma was an avid golfer who won many times during the family golf tournaments. Her family members always wanted Wilma on their team. Wilma and her husband Gary enjoyed their time on the lake in Michigan and Florida. They would take their family and friends through the canals and lake channels in Florida to look at wildlife and alligators. She had a true love for the great outdoors. She enjoyed spending time with her family and special friendships with her group of girlfriends. She loved going shopping with her daughters and taking long scenic drives. Wilma was known by everyone for her caring and unconditional love she gave and shared. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. The family would greatly appreciate any special memories or fond moments you could share about Wilma.
A Celebration of Wilma's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, Michigan. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM until time of service.
