Obituary
Lakeview - Wilmajean "Willy" (Haveman) Van Dyke, age 87, of Lakeview passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at Mission Point of Belding. Willy was born on April 23, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was raised in Grand Rapids and attended the Cedar Lake Seventh Day Adventist Academy. Upon graduation, Willy furthered her education through Andrews University. Willy met Gordon Van Dyke on a well-remembered big hill in Grand Rapids and the two were married on June 13, 1959. Willy and Gordon were married over 61 years until his passing on October 31, 2020. Willy was employed as a Secretary for several physicians, the school, and a billing and insurance company over 20 years. She enjoyed gardening and was a continually active member of the Lakeview Seventh Day Adventist Church. Willy helped the SDA's Church Clothing Pantry. She also helped with voting every year at the Village of Lakeview Community Center.
Willy will be missed by her three children Gordon Jay Van Dyke, Jr. of Lakeview, Scott D. Van Dyke of Gowen, Anna-Marie (Steve Hessler) Shear of Belding; grandchildren Vanessa Van Dyke, Jennifer (Aaron) Johnston; three great-grandchildren; two brothers Ted (Agnes) Haveman of Chattanooga, TN, and Craig Haveman of Shenandoah Valley, VA; two sisters-in-law Judy and Jan Haveman; several nieces, nephews, friends, church family, and a whole community who loved her.
Willy was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; her parents; and three siblings Louis and Roger Haveman, and Faith Marvin.
