Yolanda C. (Len) Burke
Yolanda C. Burke, age 64 of Hersey, MI, died Friday, September 4, 2020 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in White Cloud, MI after a short battle with Glioblastoma.
Born February 25, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Teddy and Macilee (Isaac) Burke.
Yolanda was a student at Taylor Center High School and then Harry S. Truman High School in Taylor, Michigan. She furthered her education to study nursing before finding her passion of studying electronics and computers. She worked for NCR Corporation as a field technician for many years then she settled into a clerical position with RUSH Trucking before retiring in 2015.
Yolanda enjoyed spending time with her family and her cat, astronomy, movies, plants & gardening, local politics and science. She was creative and loved music and had a great talent with many art mediums. She also loved spending time at the beach and being near the water.
Yolanda is survived by her parents, Teddy & Macilee Burke of Hersey; three children, Jenny Burke of Big Rapids, Jessica (Ben) Richards of Southgate, and Teddy Thrushman of Big Rapids; brother, Doug Burke of Livonia; two nephews, James (Jessica) Burke of Livonia and Jeffrey Burke of Big Rapids; and two grandchildren, LeAnna and Jaelin Richards of Southgate. Yolanda was preceded in death by her sister, Jeannene.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled to be held at Mosaic Park in Hersey, MI on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 1:00pm
