A good man has been lost indeed! Art was my track coach our Junior and Senior Years at Edmore High ('63 and '64). He was an enthusiastic, skillful, dedicated coach, always...who enabled me, in part, to set a school record in the quarter mile. Thanks belatedly for the opportunity to comment on Art! (His sister, Norma, was a good friend in high school.).
I only met Art a couple months before his passing. I felt an immediate bond with him while we had the time to chat at his appointments. What an amazing person with fantastic energy and fun memories. I believe I met his wife a couple times as well. How fortunate for you to have such a wonderful person in your life. He told me how much he was in love with his wife and family and that he was a very spiritual man and not afraid. I am very sorry for your loss. Please know that meeting Art impacted me greatly. I'm glad to hear that he was a Christian. I was never for sure since he taught evolution in school.
I never knew there was an elementary in McBride.
I had him for a biology teacher in high school Montabella, class of 93. He was always a nice guy and easy to get along with. I'm just now hearing of his passing.
I taught with Art for most of his years at Montabella. He was a fun but a caring person and a gentleman. He has gone to join many of his teaching colleagues. Prayers for the family.
My sister and I both had him as a teacher at Montabella. Always referred to us as the MacLaren girls. He was a great teacher and a very nice man. My sister tried to trick him by putting 2 frog tongues in her frog while dissecting it. She asked him what those were? Without a beat he laughed and told her to get those frog tongues out of there. Lol We're so sorry for your loss.
I did want to say that I always think of Art and Biruta when I get anything from my kitchen cupboards/pantry/storage area. They did the design and I bought everything from them. Wonderful folks. My condolences to the family.
Mr Buskirk was a colleague of my parents and Grandmother ( her room was across the hall, and Mom's was across the hall and down one from his). I took Biology, and Earth Science from him. He was a fun teacher making learning pleasant. He will be missed.
