Arthur Clyde Buskirk's Obituary
Edmore - Arthur Clyde Buskirk, age 81, of Edmore passed away at his home with family by his side on Saturday, February 22, 2020. Arthur was born in Edmore on October 3, 1938, the son of Ardry and Evelyn (VanHouten) Buskirk and was raised on the family farm. Arthur graduated from Edmore High School class of 1957 and then continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree and worked towards a master's degree at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant. He married Biruta Leeza Kalnins on September 3, 1960. Arthur and Biruta met as children and they began dating in high school.
Arthur started his employment as a Biology Teacher with Edmore Community School and with Montabella after the merge for over 30 years. He was the only male teacher in the McBride School.
Arthur owned Buskirk Construction and built many homes in the area. Arthur along with Biruta also owned Heritage House Interiors on Main Street in Edmore helping the community with home decorating, remodeling and designing ideas.
Arthur enjoyed building, woodworking, landscaping, traveling and spending time in the at his cottage up north. He loved spending time with his family, and he was a lifelong and dedicated member of Day Bethel Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for several years.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Ardry and Evelyn Buskirk. He is survived in death by his wife, Biruta Buskirk of Edmore; four children, Karen (Richard) Garvey of Edmore, Susan deBeaubien of Chicago, Kimberly Patton of New Era, MI, and Andrew Buskirk of Ada; grandchildren, Cooper Patton, Kameron Buskirk, Chelsea Zola, Kensington Garvey, and Adam (Caitlin) Garvey; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Norma (Serle) Fournier of Edmore, and Dean Buskirk of Canada; several nieces, nephews, church family, and the community whom he so selflessly helped and taught.
Funeral services for Arthur will be on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00 a. m. at the Day Bethel Church in Stanton, MI, with a luncheon at the church immediately following. Family will see friends on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 3:30 to 7:00 p. m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore.
