Carrie Jayne Johnson's Obituary
Carrie Jayne Johnson, age 60, of Lakeview passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Corewell Health Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids. She was born to Ilo and Laurie (Loomis) Basney on August 15, 1964, in Lakeview, where she was also raised. Carrie attended Lakeview Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1982. She continued her education at Montcalm Community College earning an associate's degree. Carrie was employed in the office at Hitachi in Edmore and by Lakeview Community Schools as the secretary in the Middle School office for the last 10 years. She met Jason Johnson in 1981, and they were married on July 19, 1986, at the Langston Bible Church. To her family, Carrie was known for being a loving and patient wife, a devoted mother, a wonderful sister, and the fun aunt. She loved animals (from horses to chihuahuas to skunks), all things Hallmark, and the holidays. Her Christmas tree brought her much joy and turned into a year-round project to celebrate every season and holiday. She enjoyed puzzles while watching Wheel of Fortune, Rambo and Rocky. Carrie will be remembered as a strong, helpful, and kind woman who was an important part of our community and will be greatly missed. Carrie is survived by her husband, Jason Johnson of Lakeview; daughters, Cassie (Tyler) Boshoven of Grand Rapids, Caitlyn Johnson of Lakeview; parents, Ilo and Laurie Basney of Lakeview; sister, Fronie (Rick) McKenna of Riverdale; brother, Brian (Michaelene) Basney of Lakeview; brother-in-law, Steven (Robin) Johnson of Belding. In accordance with Carrie's wishes, a private memorial service will be held for the family.
