Constance "Connie" Maxine Van Houten's Obituary
Edmore - Constance Maxine Van Houten, age 76, of Cedar Springs passed away at Green Acres of Lowell on Friday, May 21, 2021. Connie was born May 29, 1944, the daughter of Samuel Smith "Smitty" and Orma Maxine (Ashbaugh) Van Houten at Mt. Caramel Mercy Hospital in Detroit, MI. She was raised in Edmore and graduated from Edmore High School. Connie later graduated from Central Michigan University. She became a Physical Education teacher and taught and coached students at Grandville Schools for 41 years. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Greenville, MI. She enjoyed sailing in her younger years, camping, and reading but above all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Connie is survived by her sister, Koren (David) Forquer of Edmore; her nieces and nephews, Joshua (Jodi) Forquer, Jesse Forquer, Kali (Eli) Fox; and six great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Silas, Kaleb, Zachary, Jacob and Tegan.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Smith and Orma; as well as her sister, Lorraine; and her long-time best friend, Phyllis Hoort.
A visitation for Connie will be held at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore, MI on Thursday, May 27th from 3:00 PM - 6:00PM followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM.
