I moved to Big Rapids in 1999 and joined the Rod & Gun club in 2001. I had first met Dale at some MUCC activities earlier. Dale sort of befriended me at the club. When I went to the club to shoot sporting clays on Saturday afternoon, Dale was frequently there as an observer. I sometimes, just shot on the first round and sat with Dale on a bench watching the second round. I always enjoyed talking to him.
Now that I have served on the board at the club with two presidents, I can understand that Dale had vision when he was president. Primarily due to his foresight, our club had enough funding saved to purchase the adjacent property when it become available. I will miss him.
