Daniel Veron-Kenneth Vickers' Obituary
Daniel Vickers, beloved father, son, brother, grandson, and cousin passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the age of 36. He is survived by his son, Adrian Vickers, his father, Daniel Eugene Vickers, his stepmother, Kelley Rose Turner, and his siblings, Goldie Vickers, Holly Taylor, Erica Rodriguez, and brother-in-law John Rodriguez - as well as many more family members and close friends.
Born in Phoenix, Arizona on August 9, 1986, Daniel grew up in Michigan and graduated from Lakeview High School in June of 2005. He joined the Army that same summer and completed his basic training in the fall. During his seven years of active duty, Daniel was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Mannheim, Germany - and served bravely and honorably in Baghdad, Iraq and numerous locations throughout Afghanistan.
Daniel was a strong and sweet man who was immensely proud of his family (especially his son and sisters) and of having served his country in multiple foreign deployments. He was an active member of the Lakeview VFW, a beloved member of the United Church of Christ, and a wonderful friend to those with whom he served and worshiped.
Daniel enjoyed spending time with his family and a close circle of good friends, cheering on his son's soccer team, playing video games, and watching his beloved Michigan State Spartans football team. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a magnetic smile, and a great laugh - as well as a solemn sense of integrity and earnest humility.
Dan has been taken from us too soon and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. His passing leaves a deep hole in his family and his community that cannot be filled. But we will remember him with great love and affection and keep his memory with us always.
We hope you will join his family and friends for visitation at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview on Thursday, November 17 from 4-6 pm. In addition, a military send-off and burial will take place at 10:30 am Tuesday, November 22 at Fort Custer Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan.
