Darlys Jean McCarthy's Obituary
Edmore- Darlys Jean McCarthy, age 87, of Edmore, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Arbor Grove in Alma. She was born November 7, 1933 to Arthur and Elsie (Mesick) Crockett and raised in the Edmore area. Darlys married the love of her life Lloyd McCarthy on July 25, 1952 at the farmhouse in Edmore Michigan. She attended Edmore High School, and upon graduation, Darlys furthered her education at County Normal then finished her teaching degree at Central Michigan University. She was a teacher at Vestaburg and Montabella schools for 28 years, retiring in 1986. Darlys enjoyed her flower gardens, traveling, winters in Arizona, snowmobiles, playing cards, dice, enjoyed teaching children, and mostly spoiling her kids and grandchildren. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church for many years.
Darlys will be missed by her children, Trudy (Donald) Allyn of Salisbury Connecticut and Gregory (LeeAnn) McCarthy of Edmore; grandchildren, Ashley Allyn (Brian) Hutchins, Josh (Rachel) Allyn, Matthew (Leah) McCarthy, Michael (Karen) McCarthy, Kaelyn (Garrett) Lumbert; great grandchildren, Haden McCarthy, Bryson Lumbert, Teegan Brecht, and Abbigail Brecht.
Darlys was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd McCarthy in 2002; also, husband, Paul Manzullo in 2017; her parents, Arthur, and Elsie Crockett; brothers and sisters, Alice (Wayne) Armstrong, William Crockett, Maragret (Arthur) Royer, and Phyllis (John) Cook.
Funeral services for Darlys will take place Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00am at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore, Mi with Gale Nesbitt officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday February 12, 2021 from 4:30 - 7:30pm and Saturday, February 13, 2021, one hour before the service at the funeral home. The interment will take place at Vinewood Cemetery in Edmore MI.
