David William West's Obituary
Lakeview - David William West, age79, of Crystal passed away on July, 15, 2019 at SKLD Nursing in Ionia. He was born on November 19, 1939 in Owosso, the son of John and Kathryn (Cline) West. He was raised in Bell Oak, MI and graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1957. David went on to attend Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids where he earned his Doctorate Degree in Divinity. On October 3, 1958, David married the love of his life, Merilyn Ann Britten. He served in the Army National Guard attaining the rank of Sergeant and was activated during the 10-day riot in Detroit, before his discharge in 1965. He worked as a dairy farmer and filled in as a barber for Frank Jaquays in Lakeview for many years until becoming the Pastor at Living Waters Church in 1978. He retired in 2007 after nearly 30 years due to Merilyn's failing health. David loved the Lord and spent many hours reading and studying the Bible, until he could quote every scripture in it. He enjoyed going to flea markets, yard sales and eating. He was a member of Faith Christian Fellowship International.
David is survived by his 3 sons, Gregg (Cindy) West of Greenville, Charles (Kimberly) West of Ionia and Doug (Laura) West of Stanton; 7 grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Jonathon, Aaron, Jackie, Joshua and Jessica; 9 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; 3 brothers, Ervin (Madeleine) West of Alabama, Ken (Karol) West of Williamston and Bob (Jan) West of Crystal.
He was preceded in death in 2010, by his wife of over 51 years, Merilyn West; and his parents, John and Kathryn West.
Funeral Services for David will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Brigham Funeral Chapel, Lakeview, with Charles West officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Brigham Funeral Chapel.
