He was born January 25, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of James and Margaret (Dugan) Klaus.
James, known to many as Jim, was a true jack-of-all-trades. He loved carpentry and painting, and his creativity and skill could be seen in the many projects he worked on over the years. A caring and generous man, Jim was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years, an experience that shaped his dedication, resilience, and sense of service.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Julie) Klaus of Idaho, Romaine (Joe) De La Rosa of Wichita, Kansas, and Winston (Kristie) Klaus of Big Rapids; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, John “JAK” (Patti) Klaus of Tennessee. Together in life and together in passing, he was accompanied by his loyal dog, Dozer, who shared in his final journey. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harry, and sister Carol.
In keeping with his wishes, no services are planned at this time.
