Tom Boufford will officiate with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will take place at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus on Friday evening from 5:00PM to 8:00PM, with a rosary service at 7:30PM, and again on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to the time of service at the church.
Joseph was born in Detroit, MI on October 21, 1950, the son of Francis and Irene (Snyder) Cullen. After graduating high school, Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Once he was honorably discharged, Joe worked very hard to receive his Bachelors Degree in fine arts and worked most of his life as an artist. Aside from being a wonderful artist, he was also a welder for Bandit Industries for many years.
His interests and hobbies would include hunting Lake Superior Agates, working the Wheatland Music Festival every year for 30 plus years, bird watching with his wife, listening to music from all genres, and spending time with his family. Joe was jokingly known as the king of dogs, he had a love for them and they all seemed to love him back. He could talk to anyone, and usually did just that. Due to his kind and gentle nature, people would open up to Joe like they would no one else. He embodied kindness, love, and passion. He was never judgmental and always hopeful. The protector of his sisters, and the “Switzerland” among his siblings, he will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Lisa Cullen, two daughters, Emilyna Cullen and Kayleigh Cullen; seven siblings, Christopher (Lynda) Cullen, Mary (Bill) Bryan, Collette Cullen, Francis Cullen, Gabrielle Cullen (Bill McCreadie), Rebecca Cullen (Harvey Hong), and John (Moira) Cullen; one grandson, Julion Cullen, and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Joseph’s family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
