Larry Neal Dyer's Obituary
Larry Neal Dyer, age 85, of Greenville went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2021 at Spectrum Health United Hospital. He was born to Otis and Ora (Dopp) Dyer on July 11, 1935 in Vestaburg, where he was raised and graduated from high school with the class of 1953. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1955-1957 during the cold war. Larry married the love of his life, Dolores Otto on November 8, 1957 at the home of Rev. Vernon Johnson in McBride. He attended the Chicago Trade Institute and was employed as a certified mechanic at Crawford Farms for 35 years. Larry enjoyed hunting, camping, rabbit chasing with his dog, bird and people watching, and helping his fellow veterans. He was a member of the American Legion posts in Stanton, Barryton, and Edmore for more than 40 years and the Am Vets post 588 in Edmore for more than 14 years.
Larry is survived by his children, Lawrence "Ike" (Ronda) Dyer of Greenville, Denise (Glen Giesken) Wensink of Big Rapids, Lorna (Douglas) Merrifield of Sidney, Luci Dyer of Greenville, and Neal (Gerylnn Renne) Dyer of Big Rapids; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was the last of a great generation for our family, preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; parents; and siblings, Laverne (Lyle) Brownridge, Ruth (Willard) Britton, Ivan (Audrey) Dyer, Kenneth (Kay) Dyer, and Lee (Beth) Dyer.
A funeral service with military honors will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore with Pastor Bernard Loew officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM until the time of service. A private interment will follow.
