Lorraine Sue VanHouten's Obituary
Edmore- Lorraine Sue VanHouten, age 66, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Hollywood, Florida on February 28, 2018. Lorraine was born November 14, 1951 in Edmore, Michigan to Samuel "Smitty" Smith VanHouten and Orma Ashbaugh VanHouten. She was raised in Edmore where she graduated from Montabella High School in 1970. Later Lorraine graduated from Chicago School of Design where she earned her Associates Degree in Fashion Design. She worked in Clothing Retail Sales in Chicago for more than 20 years, and more recently in the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami areas for more than 10 years. Lorraine enjoyed crafting, sewing, fashion, designing clothing, the beach, cooking and sailing.
Lorraine will be missed by her sisters, Connie Vanhouten of Greenville and Koren (Dave) Forquer of Edmore, two special nieces and one nephews and special friends Phyllis Hoort and Lynn Miller. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Samuel "Smitty" Smith and Orma VanHouten.
Visitation will be held at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore on Friday March 9, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with family sharing time at 5:30 p.m. For those wishing to contribute in Lorraine's memory, please consider the wishes of the family c/o Koren Forquer.
