Michael Leonard Corke's Obituary
Michael Corke, age 56, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at home surrounded by family after a lifelong battle with Sickle Cell Disease. He was born June 3, 1963 in St. Louis, MO to Barbara and Samuel Corke. Michael was a huge sports fan with his knowledge of sports being even more extensive. Michael played college football at Colorado State University while pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Communication. Michael also went on to receive his Master's degree from Colorado State University. While in undergrad Michael became a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc- Nu Xi Chapter and continued his service in multiple Graduate Chapters in Colorado, Texas, Arizona, and Michigan. Michael worked many years in higher education serving as Academic Advisors in Colorado, Texas, and Arizona. Then he transitioned back into sports working as an umpire, an official, and security. Michael spent many years working security at the spring training facilities for the Chicago Cubs and Oakland A's in Arizona.
Michael is survived by his wife of 11 years, Janelle Warner; two daughters, Kaleya Corke, and Zariah Corke; stepdaughter, Malika Posey-Warner; grandson, Camden Warner; and 9 siblings, brothers, Samuel (Andrea) Corke Jr, Rodger (Braina) Corke, Greg (Linda) Raspberry, and Kevin Corke; sisters, Cassandra Corke, Ellen Bussey, Jovita Corke, Kimberly (Towanna) Corke-James, and Janie Tinnon. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Barbara Corke, and Samuel Corke Sr; his sister, Sabrina Corke; brother, James Thomas; and, son Isaiah Corke. Cremation has taken place with services to be planned for a later date. Arrangements were handled by Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore.
