Patricia Ann Hope's Obituary
Patricia Ann Hope of Canadian Lakes, Michigan peacefully passed away the 10th of June 2023 with her daughters by her side. Born November 22, 1946, in Alma Michigan to Melvin “Steve” and Betty Brown. She was the oldest of 3 surviving children. Pat graduated from Alma High School in 1964 and started to live her life in Gratiot County. In 1972, she married Marv Thum and gained a daughter and two sons. In 1975, Pat and Marv had a baby to grow their family to 4 children. During their marriage, they moved around Michigan, however Pat ended up in Mason and worked at the courthouse. In 1988, Pat met her future husband and married him June 10th, 1989. In 2002, Pat retired from Ingham County and she and Larry moved to Canadian Lakes to enjoy their retirement.
During her retirement years, Pat enjoyed golfing, the sun, and spending time with both family and friends, shopping and being social with all her friends both new and old in the community of Canadian Lakes. She was known to be sassy, have a big heart, and a great smile.
Pat is survived by her daughters Jill (Ed Licking) Thum and Jenni (Kenneth) Mitchell, Leslie Chambers, and Scott (Chris) Hope, grandchildren Kara Granger, Delaney Hope, Devin Hope, Dillon Hope, Alex Mitchell, Ash Mitchell and D Mitchell, sister Sharry Cusack and sister in-law Kay Brown. She also had many nieces and nephews who were loved by their Aunt Pat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Betty Brown; her husband, Larry Hope; brother, Fred Brown, and brother in-law, Jerry Cusack.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Thursday June 15th, 2023 at 12 pm at Sylvester Community Church (located at 4954 Spruce St, Mecosta MI 49332) with Pastor Simon Endacott officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at Montcalm/Mecosta Youth for Christ (PO Box 54, Crystal MI 48818). Envelopes will be available at the church.
