Ralph E. Owen's Obituary
Ralph E. Owen, born September 27, 1922 to Floyd and Helene in French Lick, Indiana, passed from this life April 9, 2013. Ralph was a dedicated father to Marty, Tom, Mary Ellen, Cathe and Joey. Papaw to Hannae, Matdisen, Kara, Kevin, Michael, Phillip, Mathew and Audrey. Married Paula in 1974, upon retirement in 1986 moved to Canadian Lakes where he was able to pursue his passion of golf. Ralph was an inspiring mentor to the students he taught and coached. After a 3 yr. enlistment in the navy, WW2, graduated from Indiana Central (Indianapolis University), taught and coached in Indiana for 6 years, moved to the Detroit area and accepted a position with U of D high school, subsequently served as director of the Detroit Catholic League. Ralph was a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Assn., and inducted in the following Halls of Fame, The Indiana Central Basketball Team 1942 Hall of Fame., Bishop Borgess Hall of Honor, Michigan High School Coach ‘s Hall of Fame and the Detroit Catholic League Hall of Fame. He was captain of both his high school basketball team and college basketball team.
