Rev. Jack Alvin Skirvin's Obituary
Edmore- Jack Alvin Skirvin, age 93, of Vestaburg, passed into the arms of his Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at his home. He was born to Glen R. and Geraldine Esther (Struble) Skirvin in Battle Creek, on July 12, 1926 where he was raised. Due to his parents passing at a young age, Jack was raised by his maternal grandparents Dennis and Grace Struble.
Jack attended Olivet College and Eastern Bible College before receiving his bachelor's degree at John Wesley College. He spent his working years as a Pastor. On September 1, 1952, Jack married the love of his life, Jacqueline Lou Hale at Verplank, the first church they pastored in Duck Lake. Jack also served as a pastor in Benton Harbor, Hillsdale and Charlotte, before finally serving the M-46 Tabernacle in Riverdale for 33 years. He served the Pentecostal movement in various capacities, as District Bishop on two different occasions, and District Secretary and Treasurer. He also founded and taught at Michigan Pentecostal Bible Institute.
Jack enjoyed horology (watchmaking), locksmith work, piloting single engine airplanes, computers, Ham radios and broadcasting weekly from his house. He was the first person from his family to be saved at a Billy Branham Ministry tent meeting.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline; children, Linda (Ron) Patton of Vestaburg, Dave Skirvin of Ada, Daniel (Barb) Skirvin of Alma, Jackie (David) Lyon of Vestaburg; grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Smolinski, Whitney (Clay) Simmons, Jonathon Skirvin, Nate (Ting) Skirvin, Ben (Vanessa) Skirvin, Bethany (Kyle) Myers, Janae (Jacob) Haase and Tabitha Lyon, as well as many adopted children; great-
grandchildren, Riley, Trey, Matthew, Elizabeth, Winston, Oliver, and Florence.
He is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Geraldine; his grandparents, Dennis and Grace (Hewitt) Struble, and Orpha Jane Grubaugh, who they considered part of their family.
There will be a drive through funeral visitation at the M46 Tabernacle Church in Riverdale on Saturday, April 11, 2020 from 12 to 2 p.m., following with an online funeral service with Rev. Rod Baker of Oklahoma officiating. Burial will take place at the Richland Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the M46 Tabernacle Church food pantry.
