Sherrie Anne Vaughn's Obituary
Sherrie Anne Vaughn, age 76, of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Sherrie was born on February 8, 1950, in Big Rapids, Michigan, to Charles and Kathleen Hall. A lifelong resident of Big Rapids, she grew up working in her family’s business, Hall’s Store, where she developed an outgoing personality and strong work ethic.
In 2002, she married the love of her life, Wayne Vaughn. Together they shared 24 wonderful years of marriage and built their dream home on property they purchased, creating a place where family and friends were always welcomed.
Sherrie dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse practitioner specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. She was deeply passionate about women’s health and spent her entire career serving the Big Rapids community. Her commitment to nursing extended beyond patient care as she also taught nursing classes at Baker College, helping to educate and inspire future healthcare professionals. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning her nurse practitioner degree while raising her children, demonstrating her determination, perseverance, and dedication to her profession.
Known for her outgoing and charismatic nature, Sherrie never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a remarkable gift for making people feel comfortable and valued. Her quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and infectious personality brought joy to countless friends, family members, colleagues, and patients.
In her free time, Sherrie enjoyed shopping, quilting, crocheting, and spending time with those she loved. She was a proud member of the Eagles and AMVETS and remained actively involved in her community throughout her life.
Sherrie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathleen Hall; her brother, Steven Hall; and her sister, Cindy Jensen.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne Vaughn; her children, James Kuhn, David Kuhn, Kathleen (Rex) Stout, Rocky Vaughn, and Brandon Vaughn; grandchildren, Casey Harder, Nicholas Turner, Zachary Stout, Alex Stout, Joseph Stout, Justin Kuhn, Dillon Vaughn, Austyn Vaughn, Lane Vaughn, Angel Vaughn, Deonna Parker, and Landon Parker; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Delores Hall, and many extended family members, friends, former students, colleagues, and grateful patients whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable career.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Eagles in Big Rapids. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m., with a luncheon to immediately follow the service.
