Tony Charles Victor Gibbs' Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Gibbs, age 70, of Canadian Lakes, MI, formerly of Clarkston, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015, after a three-year battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will follow in the spring.
Tony was born May 11, 1945 in Redhill, Surrey England, the son of Charles and Marlene (CasaPinta) Gibbs. He attended both Benedictine and Visitation High Schools. After graduation, Tony spent time at U of D before joining the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country in the strategic air command before being honorably discharged.
Tony was a writer and speech coach, and had a business of his own, Executive Communications, working for automotive and other companies in the Detroit area up until he retired in 2007.
He enjoyed golfing, playing chess, cheering on MSU and spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife, Lynn volunteered at God’s Helping Hands and as lighthouse keepers, spending eight days at a time at New Dungeness Lighthouse in Sequim, WA.
Tony also enjoyed traveling by train and especially enjoyed the north west. He was a wonderful jazz keyboard artist and played at some of the restaurants in the Canadian Lakes area.
Loving, understanding, generous and gregarious were all words used to describe Tony. He was always positive and courageous, reassuring others even through his battle with cancer. He was a man of great faith and was the rock of his family.
Tony will be greatly missed by his wife of 23 years, Lynn Gibbs; son, Michael (Leah) Gibbs; brother, Phil Gibbs and sister, Valerie (Bob) Morgenstern.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marlene.
