Wayne A Scramlin's Obituary
age 93, of Riverdale, passed away on February 28, 2016 at Arbor Grove Assisted Living in Alma, MI. Wayne was born January 29, 1923, in Seville Twp in his family home, the son of Edwin J. and Bertha Louisa (Britten) Scramlin. Wayne was raised in Riverdale and attended Seville country schools and Riverdale High School graduating Class of 1940. Wayne served his country honorably in the Army as a Tech Sergeant from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific Theater. He attended Agricultural School in Edmore after serving in the military. On March 21, 1947, Wayne married Betty Virginia Johnston, in Crystal at her mother's home by Betty's uncle. Wayne was self employed and farmed his whole life until going to work for Morbark in 1967. Wayne traveled across the world doing service and setup for Morbark until his retirement in 1985. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, reading, playing cards, and he loved history. He was a member of the Kelsey-Wiley VFW Post 2292 of Edmore and the Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his wife Betty Scramlin of St. Louis, MI; three sons Phillip (Pamela) Scramlin of Clinton Twp, David (Mary) Scramlin of Rockford, and Stewart (Cheryl) Scramlin of Hillman; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; special niece Linda Harrell; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, friends, and church family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Bertha Scramlin; one grandson Joshua Scramlin; one sister Leona Harrell; and one brother Beryl Scramlin.
Funeral services for Wayne will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior the service starting at 10:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore, MI, with Reverend Mike Reigler officiating. The family will be accepting friends for visitation on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore, MI. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service at the church. Those wishing to contribute in Wayne's memory are asked to consider the Kelsey-Wiley VFW Post 2292 of Edmore or Faith United Methodist Church.
