William "Bill" James McClinchey Jr.'s Obituary
Lakeview-William "Bill" James McClinchey, Jr., age 93, of Lakeview passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He was born on March 10, 1932, to William and Florence (Pettengill) McClinchey in Cadillac where he was also raised. After graduating from Cadillac High School, Bill earned the rank of sergeant while serving in the US Army in Korea for two years. He was employed by Robert Kendall Construction building schools and other commercial structures in the Cadillac area before becoming the Manager of the Boon Lumber Company. Bill moved to Flint where he met the love of his life, Genia Taylor. They were married on August 10, 1957, at the United Methodist Church. He was then employed by General Motors for over 30 years before retiring in 1989. Bill was also a gifted cabinet maker. He installed and custom-built kitchens for numerous new and existing homes. After retirement Bill and Genia built their home in Lakeview at Townline Lake. They had spent many years vacationing there with their children in the walk-out basement they had built long ago. They enjoyed small town living, taking up square dancing and making many friends. Bill served on the Honeymoon Heights Association board for several years, working hard to get the roads paved and maintained by Montcalm County. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his family and spending time with them.Bill will forever be missed and is survived by his children, Cindy Barr of Orlando, FL, Jim McClinchey and Kelly of Flint, David McClinchey of Carleton, Michele Tedhams of Flushing; 7 grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Kim), Miranda (Travis), Mitchel (Sierra) and Mickael Tedhams; Daniel (Arielle) Scheall, Clyde and Joseph Huddleston; 6 great-grandchildren, Michael III, Marihya, Madilyn Tedhams, Amelia, Chelsea, Kayleich Scheall; nephew, James Carlyle; niece, Lisa Shelley.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Genia McClinchey; parents, William and Florence; brother John and sister-in-law, Maria McClinchey; sister, Kathryn McClinchey; sister, Delores and brother-in-law, Clark Carlyle; and nephew, Ken Carlyle.Graveside services will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac at a later date.
