Yvonna Theora Thomson's Obituary
Lakeview-Yvonna Theora (Hewlett) Thomson, age 87, of Lakeview went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 9, 2020, with her family by her side. She was born in Millbrook on November 12, 1932, the daughter of Virgil and Lois (Kimball) Hewlett. Yvonna was raised in the Millbrook area and attended Remus Public Schools. She graduated with the class of 1950 and continued her education earning her LPN degree. Yvonna married Rev. Allan Lawrence Thomson on December 31, 1955 in Six Lakes. She was a lifelong member of the North Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church. Yvonna was very active, alongside her husband in the ministry, as church secretary and Sunday School teacher for 30 years before her retirement in 1998. She then became a Foster Grandparent for Montcalm County, serving Edmore and Lakeview students until the program ended. She enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, puzzles, visiting, reading her Bible, holding Bible studies and instructing the grandchildren in the fine art of getting in trouble.
Yvonna is survived by her children, Paul A. and Heather Thomson of Lakeview; grandchildren, Jacob (Arielle Belyou) Johnson, Oliver Johnson, Alexis Johnson and Daniel Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Allan; and her parents, Virgil and Lois.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Joe Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Decker Cemetery in Blanchard. The family will greet friends from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November 13 at the chapel.
